Attack on Hiroshima
Students imagine they are a news group that was alive during WWII, more specifically, the atomic bomb attack on Hiroshima, Japan. Students write a special edition magazine to capture and relay the perspectives of the people during this period.
The deicision to drop the bomb
Students are divided into four groups (Harry S Truman, the American miliarty, the Japanese and the scientists) and research the decision to drop the atomic bomb. They then debate the decision in a form of a town meeting and support their arguments based on their research.

Discuss the story of Sadako then colour in the words and images related to Sadako. Ss can write on the back of their colouring in a summary of the story.

Sadako research and presentation
Ss are introduced to the background of Sadako the thousand paper crane story. Divide the class into groups. Each group is given a research topic and questions (including Leukaemia, Atomic bombing of Hiroshima, 1000 paper cranes, Sadako's story). Ss then must present their research to the class.
