Verb match up
Print, copy and cut up a set of cards for each pair of students. Students then match a picture with a verb, say a sentence and then write a sentence in their notes. (More advanced students could match more than one picture to a verb and use とto combine nouns. Or write two sentences. Or use the て form to combine verbs.)
|
Verb memory
Print, laminate and cut out sets of the verb cards. Each pair of students spread the cards out on their desks. Students turn over two cards saying each verb represented on the card. If the two cards are the same they get to keep the cards. The winner is the person who has the most sets of cards at the end. 2 pages of cards. Divide the class into pairs. Give each pair a copy of the board game. Players put their marker anywhere on the board game, but opposite to the other player. Students work their way around the game board translating sentences from English to Japanese. If the sentence is said correctly the player colours in the square. The player with the most coloured squares at the end is the winner. Donated by K Farrell

Verbs board game
Students practise constructing sentences using the two grammar patterns: Topic はTime (に) Person と Vehicleで Place にMovement verb. OR Topic はTime (に) Person とPlaceで Object をVerb. Divide the students into groups of two or three. Students roll the dice and work their way around the game board. When they land on a picture of a verb they need to create a sentence using this verb. When the student lands on a time word they need to create a sentence using this time word. The winner is the first person to reach the 'ゴール'. Created by I Foley
