Bingo - colours
Use this class set of bingo cards to play colour bingo. How to play: Tt calls out a colour. If the Ss has the colour on their bingo card they cover it with a piece of paper. The first to get 3 colours in a row is the winner. (Alternative, the first to get a 'T' or 'O' shape is the winner.) Donated by: J Stuart

Guess what
Divide the class into pairs. Ss select an object. Then the other Ss asks questions until they can guess what item was selected. Ss practise colours and describing words such as ookii, chiisai, nagai, mijikai etc. Donated by B Bright

Jelly Bean Graphing (Colours)
Preparation: Bag up jelly bean samples. Make mixed bags of 30 beans per pair of students. (At the end of the lesson the students can take home 15 jelly beans each) How to play: Students count how many jellybeans they have in their bag. Then colour in the graph accordingly. After the jelly beans have been graphed they can then say how many of each colour they have. (Counter 'ko' could be used for higher level students) Target: Prep Donated by L Koziol

Shapes, colours and sizes game
Cut and laminate the cards (6 pages). Spread the cards on the floor. Divide the class into three teams. Select one student from each team to be a person who can 'grab' a card. Tt says three clues ie. " ookii desu - it is big " then "kiiroi desu - it is yellow" then " maru desu - it is a circle ". The Ss listen and only after all three clues have been given can the students choose the right card. Change team players several times. The team who collects the most cards in the end is the winner. Donated by: B Sydenham

Colour in the fruit booklet
Ss create a booklet by folding the A4 page into 4, then in half (creating 8 squares with one fruit on each page). Tear along the middle of the second and third square (creating a hole). Jellybeans colouring and graphing
Teach the colours in Japanese. Students then colour in the Jellybeans accordingly. Next, each pair is given a bag of jellybeans (the teacher can prepare small samples by putting various jellybeans in ziplock bags). The students count the number of each colour jellybean and then colour in the graph. Eg. If there are 3 white jellybeans they colour 3 white jellybeans on their graph.
